so the price of gas keeps on goin up for some reason

You are a fool. The economy is balanced and pay makes up for it in those countries as well. They don't have a $5.15 and hour min wage that this bullshit country pays you just to put back in gas companies pockets.
Touché,

however with the extremely high cost of living, especially in cities like Amsterdam, Stockholm, Oslo and Copenhagen, it does not completely even out and residents are in general taking a much harder blow at the petrol pumps despite the higher income levels.

yeah, I can't complain too bad cause I choose to drive a Tahoe so my gas bill is what it is because of that -
EXACTLY!! And BRAVO to you for realizing that!! I hear SOOOOOO many people whining that they had to dump $100 into theur SUV's gas tank.. HEY! No one TOLD you to buy something that gets bad gas mileage! Yes, gas prices ****, and NO they will not get any better anytime soon. I have a s10 that gets HORRIBLE mileage (less than 10 miles per gallon!) BUT it is my choice to fill it up ($45 to to top off my 12 gal fuel cell usually, and it does not like 87 octane at all, so I have to get the good stuff!) I will continue to do it with a smile on my face because I know when I pull out of that station, the fun will begin (POWER!) As for my daily driver, it is a company car so I dont spend a dime on it, BUT I do fill it up at least 2X a week, its a 2007 Impala and gets about 24mpg on average so its not too bad. Company's petro bill is VERY expensive though, Im sure.

AND... can anyone explain WHY diesel fuel is above $4 per gallon? If you understand refining oil, it is actually extracted BEFORE Automotive gasoline is! IN hindsight though, it is extracted at a higher temperature. But traditionally Diesel is ALWAYS cheaper than Gas

In english please...

When I bought my truck gas was 1.20 a gallon...is it my fault that it has almost tripled from that in the past 6 years? Hell, I remember just a few months ago when gas was 60-70 cents cheaper than it is now.

Im going to stay in the country for at least another year and I have decided to buy a 2007 Toyota Yaris and get 41MPG. Not ashamed or embarassed one bit. Will only drive the truck to pull the boat and only gun the boat when wakeboarding. Nice and slow accross the lake.

The second there is a reasonably priced Hydrogen fuel Cell car ill buy it. BMW Hydro 7 looks sexy.

BLA BLA BLA BLA
everyone should stop whining and complaining. We have some of the cheapest gas in the world.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/graduate.gif.d982460be9f153bb54e5d4cb744f6ae8.gif

Gas prices in a couple of the Places i have lived and owned a car.

Norway- 9.08 dollars a gallon

Sweden- 7.09 dollars a gallon

Netherlands- 8.74 dollars a gallon

Denmark- 8.43 dollars a gallon
EXACTLY! STOP BUYING GUZZLERS.... **** this country is stupid when it comes to this crap. stop complaining and start driving cars that are more reasonable. a Hemi, Hummer and other wasteful vehicles are not a god given right.

In english please....

Pretty sure I typed it in plain english.. When you bought the tank, you KNEW it did not get good gas mileage, regardless of the price of gas at the time. It has ALWAYS cost you more to fill up.

When I put a small block in my s10, I didnt complain one bit about gas, and still wont because it was built for one purpose, and that is to have fun!

how much does a heavy system contribute to mileage and gas just wondering bc I'm bout to get a abig *** box, not complaining jus wondering bc I'll just have to deal with it.
not much

no more than a passenger or two. Probably two considering slightly more power req'd to drive the alt.

Or just stop using gas all together.

Oil sales are made in US dollars. Low interest rates get more dollars in circulation, which devalues the dollar. As price swings become more pronounced, speculators rush into the market to see what they can make from it, which adds around 15% to the price of a barrel of oil.

On the supply side, we in the US don't get much from the Middle East but we do get plenty from our own hemisphere, with Venezuela being a big seller. Venezuela's oil production is having problems as Chavez has routed too many dollars away from keeping the oil extraction side going strong and plenty of the best workers in that industry are no longer working there due to a previous strike that Chavez broke. He filled the jobs with political supporters instead of qualified workers.

Also on the supply side, refinery capacity has been cut way back as Big Oil wants a tight supply. Refineries are bought and then closed down. We wind up having to import gasoline.

Factor in air quality regulations. ULSD (Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel) and "boutique" blends for specific airsheds (common in SoCal especially) require more work at the refinery level and thus cost more.

Local market rigging does take place at times as well. Even back in the good old days of pre-Yom Kippur War of 1973 gas, one would see the same price at every station in my area. That wasn't done by accident. I've seen 40 cent a gallon discrepancies in the Valley and Coast prices when the actual shipping costs per gallon were on the order of 3 cents a gallon. I've also seen trucked gas be cheaper than pipeline short-haul gas as weird as it seems.

Foxes are guarding the chickens. Is it any wonder that Clinton gas was under $1 and Bush gas is $4?

Rick
