So my "H.O" alternator is only putting out 10.5V

whats the battery read at the posts? i've seen autozone say a battery is good when it is pure shit. if the battery car off doesnt read 12+ then its trash.

Sorry was out of town or would have replied to the thread sooner. I dont know the specifics of your install since you talked to our tech, but if there is any issue it is covered by warranty. Make certain you charge your battery before any re-installation of any ALT. Your battery should be at 12.8 with the car off and car on should be 13.8V-14.4V. Each unit is tested and a spec sheet provided with your purchase. It should be very clear in that document what amperage your unit outputs at what RPM (there is a graph). Normally about 55-60% output at idle.

Was the optima installed at the same time of the ALT and was that battery charged prior to install? "New" battery does not make them charged batteries. Always charge your battery with a trickle charger for atleast two hours prior to install. This again is listed on the sheet you received with specs.

Thats not true... If the battery hasnt been charged recently (i.e. bad alternator) then the battery could still be good and have low voltage.

If AutoZone just fully charged his battery, and now it again has low voltage, I would say he should look at the charging source rather than the battery //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
