So my installer used 20 gauge speaker wire.....

I didnt by that through him, all I paid was $600 for labor

I can rest easier now its alright and no you wouldnt steal it from me, i have connections like you would never believe to one of the largest private lawfirms on the east coast

You are totally fine!!!!!!!!

900Wrms on front stage. Zapco C2K 4.0 bridged on midbass (300wrms x 2 ) and Zapco C2K 2.5 bridged on horns (150wrms x2) //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif My next build in my truck I think will be Sundown 100.4 bridged on set of midbass (320wrms x 2) and another on the tweets. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif Of course a 1500d on the subs like I have already.

wow 5 pages and not one good answer to op, things are not the same with class D amps as a/b or A classes, to top it off this is a wide freq range class d amp.....and wire size is a issue. not so much the power wire...but the speaker wire due to the low Damping factor nature of the pdx line and class D amps in genral.

yes sir change that wire, to a least 12g

that class D pdx amp has a Damping factor of about 80, and thats fine...

but with crap wire and a long run you can pull things down to a DF of say 35.27 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif asumming a 5 foot run of 18g wire...same 5 foot run with 12g is 60.7 and I like that number a lot better. not great but better...

I would run no less than 12g with a pdx, or and low DF class d amp....I run

10g to both my pdx amps, and think this is the cure for pdx strangeness I hear about on the net with the pdx....

more great info on the DF here http://www.bcae1.com/

great review of a PDX here http://www.caraudiomag.com/0607_cae_alpine_pdx_4150_amplifier/index2.html

PS I dont sell wire...I am a boat captain

speaker wire is very forgiving, that being said you really have mo recourse with the installer

Perhaps you should have asked what wire type he would use on your install or just told him what you were expecting

I used stinger 16g twisted for all 4 speakers and at 20 bucks a roll for 50 feet it cant be beat. Aslo thats really cheap to me running the speaker outputs from the amp to the back of the hu and just using the stock wires I would be pissed that seems like a garbage install
