SO much for the type r/TCAB hype. blew sub and components

The R is rated for 500 RMS. Sure, Mark and many others were sending 2-3x that much power to their R's but does that mean it's okay to? Maybe, maybe not. If your sub starts smelling funny, there is obviously a problem there and you are overpowering them. I'm sending mine about 700-800 and it's great because they get plenty loud and I'm not risking blowing it out as much as someone like you.

my components were getting around 80 rms from the avionnixx 440.4, the 12" type r was getting probably around 1200 watts from a bd1500. there was no distortion or clipping. the type r did not even "smell" b4 it blew. and it was not brand new, it had been used for quite some time, so no defects or anything
meh, im sure you were getting no where near that ammount of power out of that amp. I believe this must have happened to clipping, or some sort of electrical issue if you were able to blow it off of a brutus. I am running my powerbass xa-3000d at .5ohm to mine daily. There is no reason that it shouldve blown over that little amount of power unless it was user error. There was nothing wrong with the box, or the equipment, maybee next time you should set your gains properly and you would still have the sub and components. kind of coincidental that you and your friends equipment both blew and you probably helped him install everything since you design custom enclosures you must know what you are doing. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

This thread is freeking hillarious. Anyone who jerks with Type-R nation is stupid as you just signed yourself up for a bunch of flaming.
Yeah, SBLAZER will be around any moment to enlighten all of us. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

you moron, it is a modded rockford fosgat bd1500, not bx1500d. the bd1500 puts out its rated power

i didn't help him install anything at all. Everything is installed correctly. and i invite anyone in the area to look over both our installs if you don't believe me

What he means is that after impedence rise and voltage, you're NOT getting the rated power.

For instance, i had a pair of nine.1s strapped to my type-r 10", wired to a 1 ohm load, thus .5 ohm per amp. This SHOULD do a RATED 2000+ watts RMS, but because of my impedence rise i was getting a grand total of 550 RMS from the PAIR.

you moron,
You blew a set of components and your buddy blew a 12" Type R all in a single weekend.

You come on here and start a thread jumping to all sorts of conclusions with zero evidence to back any of it up, etc etc.

Who's the moron?

thats why i said about 1200 watts instead if the 1500-1800. this amp is also modded

the amp does 1500+ at 2 ihms, so if it had impedence rise, i would think 1200 is a good estimate. And the one guy thought that my friend had a hifonics bx1500d instead of the rockford bd1500, which puts out way more power. he refered to it as "brutus" in his post
