I heard them at 1000rms and they were **** loud. They were **** loud, but I would say it was moving about 1/3 the amount that it was able to.

i have a yellow top under the hood. i have done the big 3. all my wiring is either 4 or 0 gauge. alt is an alterstart 275 max 140-145 at 800 rpm idle. this place also makes a dual alt bracket so i was thinking get that and another 275 amp alt cuz i cant return the one i already have

oh and i only have 1 batt. do i need a batt isolator if im running two alts with 2 batts? i was told no by the guy at the alt place

yeah i dont like those alterstart alts, i had one for my car and was really disappointed. they are waaay overrated.

Ok you realistically need two runs of 1/0 gauge power wire and ground wire. On a true 5000 watts, you don't want to restrict current by having a single 1/0 gauge wire.

Now you say your car dies when you turn the stereo up? Have you measured the voltage while this happens? At what level does it drop to?

And last but not least, I would recommend a second or third deep cycle battery in the rear of the vehicle first. If it does not help the voltage drop(if there is any) then a dual alt would be needed.

I find it strange in other vehicles, a single 300amp alt can power 4000+ watts. But your vehicle actually turns off.

I'm puzzled.

ohio generators makes 500a alts i believe, would only need the one then...
And as far as running dual alts, u will need a custom bracket made to hold both and i recconmend doing 2 alts that are the same.

yeah i have called and talked to them to see if i could get a return and they said no then i asked if they had a bigger alt and they said no so it looks like its gonna be a dual alt setup with 2 "275 amp" alts and 2 yellow tops with dual runs of 1/0. if this doesnt solve it i will cry and pout until i figure out something else but i have a feeling it will work

haha lol at ^. right now they are at 4 ohm seeing about 1kw each and its such a **** waste it kills me they barely move. but they still get so low its absurd and as loud as my sx's did off 1600 watts each. can't wait for my electrical shit to be fixed
