bah. fuck gm, fuck chevy, fuck domestics.
get a RELIABLE car.
i drive a passport because it is capable to go places jeeps have issues...both stock, and i get 20 in the city and 27 on the hw...show me a jeep that does that...and you drive a worthless passport, so your opinion is worthless.
I find that VERY hard to beleive. A Cherokee is extremely capable stock and even though you may be making a little more HP, I doubt you're making more torque. A stock I6 Pre-HO (Pre-'91) makes 225ft lbs and with very minor mods (CAI, and free flowing exhaust) it can still chirp the 33's with stock 3.55 gearing and an auto.i drive a passport because it is capable to go places jeeps have issues...both stock, and i get 20 in the city and 27 on the hw...show me a jeep that does that...
edit: and with it cammed as is, i make more power than a i6 jeep
no sheets anymore because the dyno was years ago, but im making just over 250hp and 200 flat torque...i have 4:10 posi front and rear, and can spin first and chirp secondI find that VERY hard to beleive. well at the moment im happy with the stock system, however i am considering throwing a sub in the trunk after our trip to cali since i have a sub and amp laying around.Looks nice, one of my favorite (around 15k) new cars. You putting a system in it?
if i wanted to pay for a car forever i'd lease, but i dont feel like constantly having a car payment.Car buying trick I just picked up on: Look for what are called "program cars". These are lease returns and you can pick up a car one or two years old for around half the cost of new, get low mileage and still have factory warranty coverage.
My friend had a 1995 LeSabre that had the swimming pool option. In other words it leaked when it rained...LOL! He wanted a newer car. I go on Craigslist and find a 2007 Grand Marquis deSade with only 14K on the odometer for $15,995. The deal wound up being $15K plus the LeSabre.
When you go on Craigslist, look for metro areas as the dealers there will have picked up several cars and are looking to move them quickly. There's not much to be seen or as good a price in the smaller markets.
The greatest advantage to buying this way is that the biggest chunk of depreciation has been eaten up by someone else. Also, if there were any factory defects that showed up immediately, they got dealt with by the previous party so the vehicle is now good to go.
Rick
Yeah the XJ weighs in around 3700lbs stock, I'm probably sitting around 4k right now after stereo and tires, etc. 250hp is pretty **** good for a V6 too. The Passport is pretty much the same the Isuzu Rodeo right? I think the Rodeo's came with the D44 rear, does the Passport?no sheets anymore because the dyno was years ago, but im making just over 250hp and 200 flat torque...i have 4:10 posi front and rear, and can spin first and chirp second
the downside is that I weighed in at 4200lbs before stereo and added wiring:crap:
edit: i have been out with friends with xj's and wj's and have been able to maneuver beyond where they get stuck you do have me on the torque though
unless i misunderstood him, he was saying to purchase a previously leased vehicle. not lease one.well at the moment im happy with the stock system, however i am considering throwing a sub in the trunk after our trip to cali since i have a sub and amp laying around.

EDIT: Nice car too, TulsaMike. I've liked those since they came out, looks like a fun car to drive.
http://money.cnn.com/popups/2006/autos/reliable/7.htmlNice general and false statement. While GM is not making cars people want to buy, they are just as realiable. In fact GM has less problems per 100 vehicles than BMW. The only mfg lines that beat them by a small margin is Toyota/Lexus. This type of general statement maybe based off previous history(80-early 90s), it is hardly indicative of the truth in todays auto market. In fact The numbers between all majors mfgs is so negligible, that it is useless to use as a basis for buying.
This of course doesn't change the fact that the General just doesn't seem to be in tune with the market //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
I drove one and they are pretty good daily cars. There is room and the V6 should give you enough power to negotiate daily traffic. Enjoy.
hell, if thats the case, i definatly wouldnt want to buy one. I can only imagine people would treat a lease vehicle similar to a long term rental carunless i misunderstood him, he was saying to purchase a previously leased vehicle. not lease one.
