Every manufacture has their problems, if you take care of a car and it's not complete trash, it will last, simple fact. There are some exceptions in both extremes. For example, I test drove a 99 maxima with 58k which was absolutely JUNK. Yet I see others with 2-300+ on the odo all the time...Mine BTW I have driven for 21k with no problems what so ever...currently it rests at 122k...

I think Toyota is the only one that can really be considered at the top of the food chain, those cars (most of them) have been **** bulletproof since the late 80s/ early 90s....

Everything else is on a case by case basis (like the GM 3.8L or the VQ30/35)

I rented one of those and drove it from Portland, OR all around CA. Personally, I wouldn't have wanted to own it. It seemed bulky and fairly unresponsive (but I'm used to manual so that could have been why). The interior was not real comfortable for me. One of the things that drove me nuts (simple as it was) was the steering wheel. It has that stupid spoke straight down, right over the area that I rest my hand when I'm driving on the freeway. I didn't like the location (height) of the arm rests. I felt that it was lacking in the turn radius and the steering felt a bit light to me. Overall, not a bad car or anything, just nothing I would buy for myself.

Yeah it equals, slower, less gas efficient, and wider turning radius... So really it doesn't always equal better.. But it's fun to play around in the snow with (on a car) and if you ever for some reason feel the urge to drive into a 4ft tall fresh snow bank.. You can get out, assuming that your car is Fr.WD

Most people are. American autos don't seem to be in tune with what the market wants. This is obvious in sales.
I just hate when some foreign nutrider uses the ol reliable cliche' when that is far from the truth. There are many reasons sales are down, but that isn't one of them.

Seems China is liking them, or last I heard.

Anyway, I heard that SAAB's cars are more reliable upon GM's ownership

Good luck bro, I am trying to get a new car myself, but me having to credit, the ole lady with shitty credit, the mom going through bankruptcy and my real dad telling me no unless I move there so he can keep an eye on me and can make sure I can pay it, I am screwed....

On top of that I bought a car with my mom co-signing when I was 16, paid it off, well she had some credit cards and sig loans through the same bank and didnt pay them, now she is filing bankruptcy and they put a lean on my truck and they are trying to repo it. I think the 3.8L is a **** reliable motor.

My 3.8 grand prix has 152,000 miles on it and it still runs amazing.
