How old are you?? Have you ever been faced with "bad times"?? Have you ever been down on your luck. ?? Not everyone that participates in social programs are dead beats. Some people lose their jobs for reasons they can't control. Then what? Sit back and let everyone turn their nose up at you and call you a loser and dead beat because you couldn't pay for food or healthcare??

The bad part is there are a lot of Americans that abuse the system and that is the problem. But there ARE deserving people out there that just need a little help. Hell, some people use social programs ONCE and never use it again.

The majority of people won't take the risks, and then complain about how they don't have money. People like security over risk. That's very understandable. Don't expect to be rich then though. They criticize their bosses for making to much, but if they make to much, why don't they just go start their own business? Risk. Security.

I switched the topic, I do believe that our healthcare, and most of our govt is messed up and something major needs to be changed.

What I meant is you can't just CUT social programs any more than you can stop outsourcing of jobs. Outsourcing has a little to do with our healthcare problems too.

I gotta go to a xmas family thing adam. But before you go off on me. I do understand that not everyone abuses the system, and that some people do work hard and then are unfairly layed off, fired, etc. Some people don't abuse unemployment, I have a friend who was layed off and was on employment for a month, and is now working again. I know another that has been on unemployment for over a year and doesn't plan on doing anything anytime soon. It swings both ways. I just don't like stuff being handed to people, and if it is they should be striving to not have it handed to them anymore.

I see you're from Michigan. Is that where your friend is from.?? Because I am too. Michigan unemployment only pays 26 weeks of benefits per year. So I'm not sure what your friend is drawing but after 26 weeks it isn't unemployment anymore. I draw unemployment every year. It's just the nature of the construction business. It's slow in the winter and you have to have some sort of income.
