my old amp (Xterminator 2500D) blew on me couple days ago. i still had warranty on it so i went to my local audio shop, and they didnt have any of the same amps to replace it. so they gave me a US Amps MD-2D... is anyone familar with this amp? is it reliable, any good? anything will be appreciated. thanks

you couldn't have got a better bargain as a replacement! that amp is probably twice the cost of your old one and actually puts out over-rated power.

wow, sounds really good. i also was told i would have to purchase another battery because i was running that old setup on my stock battery and stock headunit.

U sir are very lucky. That is a very nice amp man. yea little extra electrical couldn't hurt //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif.

hahaha wow, sounds like everyone is saying good stuff. cant wait to purchase extra batt then i can set it up. would it mess the amp up if i mounted it to the box?

either add another battery to your electrical system, or get a strong, multi-purpose battery to replace your existing one. big three upgrade would be my first order of business though.

if you have no other option, then mount it to the box...if this is the case, i've heard someone say that it is best to add a "beauty" panel to the side of the enclosure that the amp will be mounted to so that your screws don't actually penetrate the box, and smear silicone around the holes to prevent any leaks..//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i had my old amp mounted to the box, so i would probably have to fill in those holes with some silicone... but i dont mind if i have to mount it to the box, no biggie. im just thinkin from all the vibrations on the box would it mess up my amp?

?! from xt series to a merlin?! wow.. simply.. wow.. i dunno what to say other than the guy who exchanged it out was probably not the store owner... and when the owner does find out, shit will hit the fan

literally

and

figuratively

and perhaps

probably

but yeah... very good deal.. it is a much better amp than the one that blew

and i agree with everyone else.. new batt.. and bigger wire.. that amp is awesome... good timing that they didnt have anymore of those xt amps
