This makes no sense at all. You are worrying about an extra $10 for shipping charges, yet you are about to drive 2 hours round trip, and probably spend $20 just for gas.

i'm assuming he needs/wants it NOW. not waiting 3 or 4 days for shipping.

Still, gas is like $4 a gallon, even if its 50 miles round trip, I don't know what your get mpg wise, I'd be looking at at least 3 gallons = $12 + the extra miles on my car. Seems like a scam to me. It deffinately aint right if he'd rather pack the box up, have to drive out to go ship it, rather than you knocking on his door, handing him cash, and him giving you the HU.
