It happened when I tried to hook a neon up, so that it would come on when the amp came on? All I did was hook it to the remote wire and ground wire. After this, the amp will begin to smoke whenever I hook up the power and ground.

Anybody know why this happened?

You might have too much juice running through it and the amps cooling system cant handle, the power or the heat. What kind of am amp is it??
