Smaller subs vs. Larger subs - accuracy

Some people just dont care about the technical aspecs of a good system, they just wanna make noise.
I keep Advil in the glove box.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Too much mis-information about how "bigger is better".

This dude I used to hang out with has a 15" Memphis Mojo sub, in his ext cab s10. He's got it in this tiny *** box that looks like its around a half CF, and its being pushed by a Hifonics 1000 watts mono amp, which I wouldn't even know if it is or not cause he's an idiot at car audio. Even had home speakers that were ghetto rigged into the truck //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Well, the sub certainly gets loud, but it strait up sounds like *** in that tiny box, and so does everything else. I tried to set him up strait before, a few years ago when he bought a couple cheap Street Edge subs which sounded ok when I helped him install everything and get it setup. But he had to go eff everything up when trying something different on his own...

when i went from 2 12" gti's in ported to 3 gti's in a sealed, the bass got tighter and louder //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif hooray for sealed.

At first I thought that if the same magnet is pushing a smaller (lighter) cone, It must be able to move it faster. But one day I read the logic that a 15 only has to move about a quarter inch to produce the same size wave as a 10 moving an inch, so it can sound better. Bigger subs and bigger boxes on the same power will always win though high or low bass.

I will say that I used to have two JL 12's (sealed) in my old car. The sub box was built by a reputable shop.

For some resaon the subs always seemed to be a half-second or so behind the music.

When I switched to two 10's the problem disappeared. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

lag comes from having processors or bass boosters on
