Smaller pulley on Alt, negative effects?

I bought a 1 wire alt that was supposed to be 200 amps, but it didnt make close to the power I thought it would at idle, I contacted the seller before even putting it on and told them this, she told me she was going to send me a smaller pulley and that should bump up the output, will there be any drawbacks to this??

I plan on putting it inline with my a/c belt which is a 3 rib

Oh ok, but if that bearing were to fail, it would just make god awful noise and need replacement (wouldnt be to expensive right?) and the alt would be useable again?

Most all HO alts come with smaller pulley's ,usually 2".Depending on your idle speed and the size of your crank pulley you should get slightly higher output at idle.I had to go with a 1.65" pulley to get decent output at idle.

ok so since she hasnt even built this alt for me yet, would she benefit from knowing the diameter of my crank pulley??

Depends on the vehicle.

Usually the turnon speed of the alt is around 2400rpm.

The crank pulley determines what ratio the alt spins to the engine.
