slim mids???

Are you using any kind of baffle/spacer between the speaker and the door frame?? If not, use a 3/4" MDF baffle, and that will probably solve your problems.
already using the 3/4" MDF spacer, the frame hits way before that. I'll probably try the hack job first before trying to buy new mids. Wish me luck guys.

But i already chopped it up like i'm DJ Screw. It's in, now i just need an amp hooked up to it

 
Hertz Space series is the shallowest mids available.
C Mass Neo mids are pretty "thin"
