Sirius Antenna Question

Got a Sirius sportster reciever for christmas. Gonna hook it up via RCA cables to my kenwood x890, but i have a question about where to put the antenna. I have a 96 Sierra and what i was thinking was would it be ok to run the antenna through the firewall and stick the magnet on the sidewall in my engine compartment or would the reception then ****?? Otherwise ill run it outside onto my roof, but was wondering if the engine compartment was a viable option that would leave it hiden.

You won't get good reception with the antenna in the engine compartment. Mount it on the roof. I like to unscrew the 3rd brake light and run the wire in underneath. The antenna is very unobtrusive mounted in front of the brake light.
