single ten... Need sugestions

My buddy has a 94 maxima and he was wanting to go with a 10w7. Which I explained there are many subs out there that can get louder for cheaper. He has $1000 to spend on a single ten and an amp to power it. I'm looking for suggestions because I personally haven't heard enough subwoofers to judge. Mainly looking for spl but has to have decent sound quality.

If it was me, and I am probably biased, I would go with the 10W7 and 1000/1, just turn it down a little. I know a lot of people think JL is over priced, but I think you get what you pay for.

the diamond D9 10 was pretty impressive i thought. got pretty darn loud ported. i didn't like the amp he had. it was a power acoustik. 2400 max watts (?). but the sub seemed, and sounded solid.

the 10w7 will take 1k fine, mine has now for over a year.

that would be a good sounding set up but if you really want it loud, go with

cj407's dd3510.

I would get an RD Alpha 10" and spend the rest on a 1500 watt amp. A Sundown 1500 or RD 1750.1.

I would buy another Alpha in a heartbeat if I was going tens again.

I am not biased either. But really, the hdc's are prolly your best bet. They get loud as hell and IMO they sound great as well. Very punchy even in a 40hz box. And they nail the lows(which is surprizin for 10s. I would get the HDC10 and an AQ 1200D and a good battery. When he decides to spend a lil more, then upgrade to the 2200D.

I just want to make sure he is happy with what I decide for him to get. He basically wants to get louder than the 10w7 my other buddy has on a 1000/1. It's pretty much price isn't a concern up to $1000.

if you wanna be louder than a 10w7 off of a 1000 watts.....then a 3510 off of a DD M1a would be perfect. i know someone on here is selling a M1a for cheap and i have a 3510 i'm looking to sell...
