Going to have a single sundown SA 12" d4 @ 2 ohms on a soundstream rub 1600.1d what do you guys recommend for box dimensions and all that? i'll put around 1,000w to it daily once I let it break in a bit and i'm confident all is going good.

Another thing is the whole d2 and d4 subs, can someone inform me on what the difference is? I read up that d4's can be wired to 2ohms up to 8ohms and the d2's go down to 1ohm and 4ohms. why is that? could I not get a d2 and wire it to 2ohms?

Any help would be appreciated!

Go to 12volt,con,and bookmark it for future reference of lots of information of car audio/ohms law/sub boxes/wiring loads ect. If you only intend to run a single sub a DVC2 ohm load, you will need a DVC 4 ohm sub to wire to a 2ohm load.Depending on your space to be given up for your sub only.Id recommend approx. 1.5 cuft min @34-38 htz,and a max. of 2.4,is what I like.

To get the box built properly,b7y specs/ect.Id ask @ Buck a vendor on this site @ High Output Enclosures,to get the most out of that subs performance, and build it yourself from one of his designs, and cut sheets.Very well indeed get the best out of that sub,and @Buck knows his chitz

Thank you man! i'm definitely trying to educate myself as much as possible so i'll go through that website and see how much info I can get out of it. as for the boxes, isn't there quite the amount of good known custom box builders on this site?

Edit: I mean one who could build one for me and ship it, i'm not a very crafty guy and if i made my own box it'd be of poor quality lol

I've got a single 12" enclosure that was designed for the Sundown X, but I ran an SA-12 D4 in it @ 2 ohms off of my DCA2500.1 (Set gain with DMM to around 800 rms at first and then at about 950 rms and left it like that for about a year in the trunk of my GP daily) - Sounded really good, I'm doing a new build so this mint enclosure is going up for sale - All sub screw mount holes were pre-drilled and there is only 1 set of mounting screw holes in this enclosure that all hold Tight... I'll let this go for $250 local pickup, $350 local pickup loaded with an SA-12 D4 sub (Quotes for this build WITHOUT the flush mount logo, splatter port paint, and carpeting were all well over my asking price for a pristine finished product) - Hit me up if you're interested

Sadly I wouldn't be able to do much with local pickup, looks like one hell of a box though and I appreciate the offer! out of curiosity it looks real big, how many cubes is that?

It's much smaller than it looks ( cu ft. NET wise) - It's a horn design so it's got a progressively tapered port, it's roughly just shy of 3 cu. ft. net after port and sub displacement... - An SA sub does not require this enclosure by any means but for the power you are wanting to run I've done it in this enclosure with awesome results, plus the option of upgrading to the X down the road is pretty sweet too as you would not need a new enclosure //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Ah, yeah the port kind of threw me off it just looks so wide! the sundown X series looks absolutely amazing but I can't really consider it until I invest in a new alt and huge battery because once I move on from the SA i'll be going 2 12s of a different sub like the X or z4. Sense I am putting 1,000w+ to the SA should I lean towards a bigger box?

No not at all, I just know that THIS particular enclosure does work with that sub and that power... I'd stick to specs if you're having one built from scratch //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I'm really not sure on a good all around size for the amount i'd be putting to the sub, would like 1.75cubes @ 32-34hz be alright on 1,000 watts daily? one day when im moving on to a different sub i'd like to wire it down to 1ohm and put 1,500+ for awhile for fun.
