One last question. Since I'm going to attempt a ported enclosure, will the 320W amp be sufficient?It will be 3/4 channel of an A/B amp.

I 've always liked the idea of having some headroom, but everyone tells me that subs are more efficient ported.

the DCON rms is 300, 320 isn't really gonna give it a big workout. I'd say get the d4 coil on the DCON, and give it 500w, it should handle that with zero hiccups.

I will only be using one amp, a 4 channel. The fronts will be powered by channel 1/2, and the 3/4 will be bridged at either 320 or 500 @ 4ohm(depending on amp). So I need the D2

Okay, news flash..for me anyway! The rest of the world already knows. Resonant Engineering just AIN'T what it used to be. Therefore, this comparison wasn't really as closed as I thought. I'm looking briefly at the DC level 2. Are there any compelling reasons why I should looking more closely at it? Otherwise I'm going to pull the trigger on the DCON tomorrow. She's already in my cart just waiting to be ordered.

dcon will be more musical than the level 2. if you want to look into DC, i would bump it up and get the level 3. all level 3's are $150 shipped and are 600 rms, so in the case that you do decide to upgrade you would have some headroom.

Just when I thought I had this all figured out. Okay, so...I'm open to suggestions again. The problem is, there's a lot of good stuff out there. I wish it was like, "Oh these two brands are the best, these are just okay. Everything else is crap." But no, there's SSA, Digital Designs, DC Labs, Ascendant Audio, Fi, etc.

just an fyi.. the dorum is currently on a dcon boner.. give it a month and they will be shoving you at something else.. take the comments with a grain of salt and look into it and make the decision yourself... on another note if you know much about audio at all you are ahead of 95% of the people you are asking for advice

don't go with DC. they are starting to use parts like the newer RE's. theres nothing different about DC. and i believe there motors for building subs are still out of stock. DC is going downhill, so to speak

I have noticed it seems to be The next addiction. That being said I still think it's a good choice for the money. However not necessarily the end all tell all of budget subwoofers. I know just enough to get in trouble. What type of voice coils. What gauge of wire. Basic box building ( with aero ports). Don't quite understand the T/S stuff, but cheat with WinISD. But that just tells me how to build a box for it, not if it fits my intended application or if its even any good. And unfortunately none of the national mainstream are readily available so I kinda have to take a shot in the dark with the help of people on boards like this.
