Single DCON 12 vs. RE SRX 12 - Small sealed or Ported w/ Aero

I have been hunting and hunting, talking, looking, reading, and I've narrowed my choices down to these 2. Fortunately I was able to listen to the SRX in a sealed enclosure and it's sounds pretty sweet. But hard to judge on a sales floor. So here's my questions.

I have a Pontiac Vibe (think Toyota Matrix). I want a single 12 to go in the cargo area.

-SSA suggests for the DCON is 2.25cu ft. ported @ 28-33hz

- RE suggesst for the SRX 1.5cu ft. ported at 35HZ

Are these specs really ideal? Seems like a lot of times the manuf. idea of deal is off.

I listen to Rock/Alternative, Classic Rock, 80s, some FUNK, bluesy stuff. Don't listen to rap.

I've run sealed only ever, and always felt the output was lacking, yet I don't want to be booming down the street either. I'm in my early 30s and just want some BASS.

Will have 300-500WRms in power depending on the amp I choose.

So lets here it, how should I roll with either of these?

P.S. I really don't want any other sub recommendations, I'm done looking.

My vote goes to the Dcon based on good personal experience with the Dcon line. Sounds pleasant, musical, and can get plenty loud if called upon.

I'd go around 2 cubes @ 32hz. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Appreciate the size and tuning recomendations. Honestly guys, I doubt I could really go wrong with either sub. I'm just wondering if there's any strong reason why I should choose one over the other given the vehicle and intended use.

Hand built in the USA matter?
Now that you mention it, RE are made in China aren't they? And I love the fact that the SSA owners/reps are active on this board, and their own. Not sure why it didn't come into reasoning before, but that may have been just what I needed to help me decide.

The ssa subs are very nice and well priced and i think the specs they recomend on the site are good , i mean they built the things they should know what size enclosure they will perform best in .

Yeah, I'd hope that with a smaller company, and attention to detail they have, that their ideal specs would be more reliable. But man, a lot of these huge companies that are so far removed from the customer have a bad idea of what "ideal" means

One last question. Since I'm going to attempt a ported enclosure, will the 320W amp be sufficient?

It will be 3/4 channel of an A/B amp.

I 've always liked the idea of having some headroom, but everyone tells me that subs are more efficient ported.
