I have a set of 6.5" components in my single cab and would like to add alittle more bass. I listen to mainly heavy metal, rock, alternative, no rap or anything like that. I don't want a system that you can hear me coming a mile away but something nice clean and simple. Would a shallow 8" be enuff for what i'm looking for or should i get a shallow 10".

i would just go with a regular 8, not a shallow mount. an RE 8 would be cheap off ebay, and add some punch in a small ported box.

and dont be afraid to hit it with the recommended rms watts or maybe just a touch over as long as you use a good clean amp.

You could also try a DD 1508. The first time I heard one, I was surprised to learn that it wasn't a twelve! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

If you can't design a ported box, do a passive radiator. It's real easy to do, and works wonders in a truck type environment (where the ports are a PITA). I'll say a Sundown e8 and a 10" PR like this one:http://www.creativesound.ca/details.php?model=APR10

Kinda' expensive, but you can change tuning on the fly.

From the OP's post, he wants something simple. Doing a PR setup isn't simple if you don't have a good understanding of how it works.

My amp isn't 2 ohm stable when bridged so will this all work together? Its a kicker zx650.4 and the re sub says its dual 4 ohm coil. Will this have to be ran in stereo? The re sub also states as being 175 watt rms, is that per coil or total of both coils?

You can always run an 8 ohm load.... And get closer to rated power.

The RE will take alot more than "rated" too.

And, never run a DVC woofer stereo off each coil, its kinda bad.

2x 4 ohm coils can be wired parallel to 2 ohms or series to 8 ohms. There's many amps with 2 ohm power you can use.
