Single 12 Box Question

Ok, so I gave up on fancy angled boxes, and plan on building just a standard rectangle box. Few questions for you guys though.

1: For calculating volume, do you subtract the port space or does it count as part of volume?

2: Which port would be better (or does it matter?) Both have the same port area.

Tuning occurs at net volume (minus speaker and port displacement)

L-Port are more desirable than maze ports. That first design could yield

poor results from what I can see by the interior port opening size, and that's

a lot of direction changes.
