single 10 or two 10's for punchy bass?

I'd like to keep the whole thing below $200...aiming at the $150 mark.

Nope. But the bastard stole my name....... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif :furious: //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

It depends on the car too, in a hatchback, a single 10 will perform very well by corner-loading the hatch, but in a sedan or someting large, I'd be hard pressed not to choose a 12. I've never needed a pair of subs to get it to sound right, but then I am an SQ guy.

I definitely want to go sealed box. That much I know.

Also, a potentially dumb question....but do you have to wire BOTH voice coils? If I wanted to go with 2 subs...do I need to wire both vc's on each sub?

YES. You must wire both coils on the subwoofer.

There are fancy ways to go about only using 1 coil on a dual VC subwoofer.....but that's for the very, very advanced user as it totally changes almost everything about the subwoofer.
