signal sense turn on

I have a kenwood KAC-8105D which says it has signal sense turn on. When I connect the rcas from my line output converter to the line in jacks on my amp though I turn the key and the amp won't come on.

I have the power wire ran and connected and the ground is on a good solid bare metal spot.

And if I just jump a piece of wire from the power on the amp to the spot for the remote wire the amp does power on.

Anyone know what the problem might be?

Most amps I've dealt with that have signal sense, only have that function via the high level inputs.

Does it come on when you play music? Generally there needs to be a signal to sense.
