(sigh) need help with volume of a sealed box

It's been too many years since school but anyways. I need 2.5 cu ft per sub and i'm running two subs in a sealed enclosure. My length will be 40 inches andheight 18 inches. What would my final width have to be if I am using 1 inch MDF to get the desired 2.5 cu ft per sub? The subs used are brahma 15". Thanks. I tried finding an answer on my own but found my math skills less than desirable. Wanted to add that I will be seperating the subs internally with a piece of the 1" MDF.

L*W*H = volume

40''- 3'' = 37

18'' - 2'' = 16

37*16 (these are your internal dimensions - I got 37 by subtracting the sides and the middle baffle of your sealed box)

Basically, its just trial and error, I used 15'' for your depth and I got it on the nose just about.

If you use 37*16*15 internally (40*18*17 externally) you'll get 2.56 cubes.
