I got my vehicle metered at my first competition yesterday. It was a lot of fun for about the first 3 hours, then started to drag onnnn and onnnn, wish there had been more competitors. Noone had any subs that I wanted to hear, except for htownplaya from here with his Flatline. Everyone had MTX and RF and Memphis subs, so boring.
Anyway, the setup is 2 SI Mag 15s in 7 cubes @ 30hz with 100" port in my 96 camry trunk on a Sundown SAZ-1500D at .5ohms.
I hit a 142 at 33hz which I thought was pretty impressive, and peaked at 146.6 at 42hz. I took 2nd place in Stock 1 class, the next highest after me was a 143 something. I beat some guy with 4 ported Alphasonik 12s and 2 1000Ds, destroyed 2 W7s with 2 1000.1s, beat 2 MTX 15s ported on 3000 watts. In fact, me and the 1st place in my class beat every car in the higher stock classes.
The best thing though is the Mags sound awesome doing it. After metering I played some random tracks from my test cd for some people and they were amazed at the subs accuracy, none of them had heard anything like it.
I'm almost positive my car has a 148 in it right now with just a little tweaking. The 146 was with all doors/windows closed and in the kick, HU volume at 28. After that run I boosted the gains about 12-15% and tested for clipping at 29 volume and it was good to go. Also the box isn't sealed up from the trunk yet. If I throw some pillows in there to ghetto seal it, and run through with the gains set higher and open the doors I should hit a 147-8. Will have to wait for the next comp to do that I guess, if I can afford it.
The runs were ****ing expensive so I only did the two 30 second intervals... one for the sweep and one for tones. This was a USACi meet.
Bottom line - 150 in a trunk is not only possible, it isn't really that difficult at all. I'm not running an SPL rig, not even close really with the 30hz tune, and I could very likely hit a 150 by strapping a 2nd Sundown to make about 3500 watts.
