Shrinking digital pics size for..

ok so u open the pic in irfanview then go to Image>resize/resample(or hit ctrl+r)>then click the 800x600 button. and then ok correct?

correct .. This is'nt the pic i first tried . The first one was 1.9 mb then i went down to 800x600 and it was still 1.3 mb

Well if im going to post up pic s of progress on my enclosures and system setup , 30 pix at 1 mb each might kill someones comp... I'll just have to remember to turn my digital to low res instead of hi.. Much easier

jus figured out how to change the size of the file. when u click save as after resizing it, there's a little box on the side of the save as box there's a quality option. u can change the quality to a lower quality or higher for the size of the file. just changed a 1.05meg file to 65kb after changing to 800x600 and dropping quality to 30 instead of 70

another option is to just host them on a site like photobucket and they automaticly resize them to like 800x600 and you can choose what size for the file to be

I'm an idiot...

I did'nt click on "save as" on the disk icon, i was in the file and there diferent

I had it on BMP instead of JPG
