should I....trade Memphis for Audison?

I am contemplating trading my Memphis 16-mc1500d for an Audison lrx 1.400. I know i will be giving up a lot of power, but i will be using it to push a 12w7 in the prowedge box. I'm looking for clean sound, but i don't wanna give up too much output. What can i expect out of this amp. Keep in my that the w7 is a single 3 ohm sub, so let me know.

I wouldnt trade unless you wanted the smaller footprint. Don't the w7 series want a lot more power than the Audison can give?

I believe that at 3 ohms, that audison will put out around 700- 750, which is what the w7 is rated to take. My memphis gives out 1100-1200 at 3 ohms. I'm wondering if i will be able to notice the difference in sound quality.

You will notice no difference in Sq. Does the audison have upgrades?

Not really, especially since i will eventually have plans to go active. And the power estimate was just that, an estimate.

amplifier Sq is always a debate, so im just going to give my 2 cents. You will not be satisfied taking half rms power away from a w7, not only that but the loss of headroom with the memphis conservitivly(sp) set on gains will be just as good if not better. Im0.

Cool, thanks gl0ck, I 'm gonna end up keeping it, besides it looks good with the other two. BTW, the gains are set to the lowest possible setting.
