Should I get an Alpine MRP-F550?

I could get one of these for 200 new in box from a friend... maybe less. Should I take it? I plan on buying some PG RSD's one of these days and he needs to sell this fast. I have heard the pdx series are great but how about the MRP? Thanks.

It's about the same price on ebay...Alpine amp.. It'll work but you could get by with a smaller amp for a set of comps.

I don't necessarily agree with that unless by smaller you mean smaller in size and not wattage.

I am running the same 4 channel and it works great but I did wish it had a little more power, my Pre outs are not great so as long as you have a head unit that has good voltage pre outs then this amp will be great. This amp is last years model so $200 is OK but you might find it cheaper.

Unless he's going to run 2 sets of comps he does not need 500 watts.

well I was thinking 90 watts would be fine because pg rsd's can handle well over 100 I hear. However, for now I only have a pair of polks and a pair of infinity's in my car at the moment. Each can handle 60 watts rms. If I set the gains with a dmm, will it be safe to use until I get new speakers?

Yes, it will be fine. Too much power is easy to fix with the gain adjustment and don't overdrive the HU.
