Should I feel bad for modifying my 2004 40th anniversary Ford Mustang?

Well, when I bought my car, I scored one hell of a deal. Bought a 2004 40th anniversary mustang for ~$9k in 2005. 9k miles, perfect condition. It was a rental car, but never in a wreck or needed any repairs. The reason I got such a nice deal is because it was going off ot an auction the next day (which around here they get jack for even nice cars) and the guy I talked to was a softie and I talked him down a good $6-$7k.

Well, I got into car audio not too long ago. Put in a new HU and door coaxals.

As far as modifacation, I don't know how salvagable the origional Mach system is. Hell, the dealership messed it up enough (Put a 4-ohm speaker in a 6-ohm system //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif). When I had to drop that black pannel in the back, all the wires for the stock speakers snaped, but with enough work can be salavgeable.

I kept that panel overhaed in the grauge, along with the stock HU and speakers, so if I REALYL wanted to, I could put it back to stock with some work.

I havn't modified the engine, so that's not screwed up.

But my parents are putting me through this guilt trip because it's an anniversary model, that it's "disgracing" the name (Mustangs are HUGE in our family. My father had one as his first car, so did my uncle, as did I. We're also fixing up a 67' Mustang).

Should I feel guilty? Or am I making the car better? I aslo plan on doing some small things, installing a heating/cooling plate in the cup holders (new work in progress) but I havn't cut any metal or done anythign irreversable.

I still feel guilty //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

The 40th Anniversary Special Edition package will be available on Mustangs and Mustang GT coupes as early as this fall. A total of 5,700 affordable anniversary editions will be built, featuring crimson red paint and special striping, wheels and interior enhancements.

I wouldnt screw around with a low volume car like that, but thats just me.

why should you feel guilty? were not talkin about a 68 69 charger, or ss chevelle.

there is really nothing special about the 40th editions, except the mach 1's which are sweet.

dont feel bad

There's nothing remarkably special about a lot of anniversary cars. It's just the fact what it is, anniversary. The 50th anniversary 'Vettes got some suspension work and interior trim, what else?

To a collector, somewhere, out there, a 40th Mustang will be something down the road.

So, if you feel bad, and want to stick to tradition..don't do anything you can't take out.

What about stuff like I listed? Like I said, I can revert it all abck to stock with some work, but I think the Mach Audio system is done for (Due to, like I said, a speaker replacement done by the dealer gone wrong)

I wouldnt feel bad....okay yea 40 years big woop! Maybe a 50year would be something alot more special but i dont see anything special with a 40 year.

Do what you wont and jsut blow off the guilt trip.

I started tearing apart my $50,000 Saleen the day I bought it...there are less than 1500 made a year...and mine has the rarer solid glass roof and last year produced in screamin' yellow...It is just a car to get from point a to point b you might as well enjoy it...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I have a 40th Anniversary Mustang GT also, and the "Anniversary" Edition is nothin special. Don't feel bad.
That's what I thought. Pretty much just the side badges and different collored interrior? I'm sure anything I'm doing then (like I said, not cutting metal, not doing anthign extreme, everythig is reversable) won't mess with teh value at all. I'm thinking of holding on to it, though. Good sentamental value, plus it's be nice to take it out for a spin in the summer.

I'm planning on perhaps buying a winter car (Mustangs throw themselves off the road at the hint of ice) when it starts getting colder. I'll probaby get somethign less nice, but not horriable. Keep the Mustang in that much better condition.

I've said it once, and i'll say it again, I have 2 Mustangs, and i've never had any problems with them. Great cars.
Not bad cars, but a pain to work with. But, I'd concider another Mustang as my next car...as long as I have a winter car. You haveto admit, they're a ***** in the winter.

What's hard to work with on them? Lots of space in the engine bay, lots of space under the car, aftermarket parts are fairly cheap compared to imports. But yea, in the winter, **** even trying to drive. I usually use my Dad's truck or just ride with my roommate.
