Short Circuit on Speaker Cables...

Hello,

This is my first time posting in this forum and I have to admit that it rocks hard!

I recently bought a relatively cheap car audio system consisting of 2 Hertz DCX 165 front speakers, 2 Hertz DCX 690 rear speakers, an MTX XT12-44 12" DVC subwoofer and a Hertz EP4 amplifier. Amplifier is driving the rear speakers 2x60W(4Ohm) and the sub 1x190W(4Ohm), but I have wired the DVC in series so impedance increased at 8Ohm and I'm not sure what happened to the power... I'm saving money to buy an MTX TC 3001 amplifier to drive the subwoofer at max power and connect the rest speakers to the EP4...

Anyway, while I was trying to set the gains with a DMM, I accidentally joined the 2 subwoofer + and - poles short circuiting the cable... HU was playing a 50Hz sine wave at that time and amplifier was near maximum power... As a result, some copper fibres went on fire and "Safe" light indicator turned on. Seconds later the test tone resumed...

Being a newbie, I'm afraid I might have damaged something on the amp. Music plays normally and subwoofer works like before... There are no signs of channel damage or something... But what should I check to make sure everything is ok?

Thanks in advance,

Doom
