amperage draw?

i have the system in my sig, and i was just curious as to how much amperage this should be drawing, i have a cap with a voltmeter and ameter on it (its just too see what my systems doing i know caps stink) and my voltage stays around 14 but when its turned up to optimal volume, songs like late nite tip, or throw some Ds im only drawing 70-80 amps, i havent even gone over 100, it wangs pretty good but i was just curious am i getting the most out of my system?

That's about right. The ammeter isn't going to react fast enough to show you actual peak draw and the amp isn't going to draw its peak for any duration on music.

two 1606's and a 4100

3000 + 400 = 3400

ave eff @ 70%

3400/.7 = 4857

after a crest factor of about 1/3 you have 1620w

1620/13.5v = 120A @ FULL volume

This could go a long way to show the difference between an amps rated rms power and what it actually takes to play music.

thank you for your help, i was just curious because awile back i only had one 1606D hooked up and just alone it would crank50-70amps thats why i was concerned, and if i were to buy a 300 amp digital ammeter for like 40$ on ebay would that be any good?

say this one, becuase im new to car audio and i want to get an understanding of whats going on eletrically in my system, and sidenote, how much voltage would that shunt drop?
