Shop f*cked up my install

sucks it happened but you should buy ur equipment where u have it installed. they will give you better deals the more you buy and the more often u go there.
if u bought there equipment and there was a tweeter blown they would install another one right then even if they fugged it up...

ya need shops and to keep them in business you need to suport them and they will cover you!
True, my dude gives me HeII all the time cuz I buy from the net, install it myself, but ask for his help if I go wrong! Lol He still helps but b!tches @ me ab it.

I'll prolly start buy sh!t from him and let him install it...next box upgrade is a wall.

Whats the Fvking problem with installing outside equipment, if you don't sell it? Work is work, why would you charge a customer extra because he didn't purchase the gear from you, thats bull shit!!! You should be happy they choose to partonize your shop. Shops normally have a standard rate on installation, something like 60-90 bucks per hour, regardless if its your merchandise.

You sir, are the very reason I try my best to install equipment myself, you give honest, ethical shops a bad name!!!

Honestly, even the good shops don't sell the highend products like ID. So, we are just surpposed to settle for lowend bullshit?

It's a must to purchase from fourms, ebay, or the direct company. Unless, you want SPL, Audiobahn, Aquistiq, Kicker, or memphis.

I wish I knew of a shop that sold ID, RE, Sundown, RD, Zapco etc...

You seem to think I work in a car audio shop. I don't. I always recommend people learn to install themselves. This is a hobby, and the work is a big part of the hobby. If you go to a shop expect to pay the premium price, but then you can demand the premium service (if you choose the right shop).

Any shop can get you any gear, they just can't match ebay's prices. There are lots of shops that have done many installs of Dynaudios or McIntosh gear. If more people asked for the gear, they would carry it. Most people are low end consumers that want everything for $20.

The issue is the majority of knuckleheads that try to undercut the shops by getting the same lowend bullshit online to save a few bucks then take it into their local shop to get installed. Ebay seller dumping thier broken, fried and counterfit gear, then when it sounds like *** or doesn't work you blame the local shop. Like the OP. How does he know the gear wasn't bad before it was installed? Now he expects the shop to deal with repair or replacement as if this is thier warranty problem? It's not. Go complain to ebay. See how well that works out for you.

I buy my gear online, and install it myself. I still try to buy from authorized dealers and reputable vendors with real store fronts, not discount vendors or ebay.

Shops are for people with more money than interest in the hobby. If your trying to save money, then you must install the gear yourself. Don't buy on ebay and ask the shop to do the install.

Quote myself:

Your missing my point. When you buy from a shop your buying more than just a box, your buying service, expertise and thier warranty for their work and anything you buy thru them. You don't get any of that when you buy online from a discount vendor.
I also buy my gear online and install myself, I encourage others to do the same. Buying your gear online and having a shop install it is a recipe for disaster for everyone involved. If I ran a shop I wouldn't install your ebay crap unless I bench test everything and charge you up the ying-yang for every minute I spend dealing with you. To the point where you would have been better off buying the gear from the shop.

You don't buy a steak at a grocery store and take it into a nice resturant and ask them to cook it for you because their steak is too expensive. Then expect them to fix it if the steak is tough or doesn't taste good. Either buy the steak on the menu or stay home and cook it yourself.

Do you people seriously believe that a local shop should warranty gear you bring them from ebay? It's not going to happen.

It's an either/or situation. Either you buy the gear from them and get the full service, OR you buy the gear from ebay and deal with ebay's "service". Paying a shop to install gear you bought online seems like the worst of both worlds. You over pay for installation, but don't get the warranty from either party. Your disatisfaction is almost guaranteed.
amen. the only thing he can do is contact the guy he bought them from. all the shops i know have it written on the receipt there is no warrenty for anything Brought to them
