Shitty 1st box. Characteristic?

ya man my first one took me like 2 days of sanding everything piececuz all my cuts were un even, and then it was still uneven, but im still useing the box it cuz im to lazy to build another one.

There are lots of ways to dress up an ugly box, man. For example;

(a). round everything off with a sander or router

(b). lay down some bondo & sand the hell out of it

©. build up the really bad areas & spray or roll on a thick layer of rhino liner

(d). build up the really bad areas, glue down some backing and wrap the f*cker in vinyl

And those are just a few ways that you can polish a turd. If the box is structurally sound, it can be made to look decent...

I'm quite sure we have all been there with a crappy looking enclosure! It is amazing what carpet can do for a crappy looking enclosure. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

pics...shoulda seen my first box...was for two audiobahn 15's, made out of particle board and 2 x 6's //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif wouldnt fit in my trunk, so i took it out and cut about 1/4 off of it and nailed it back together...ahahaha. It was awesome...

Proper tools, time and triple checking are your friend.

First box.

There are two reasons this came out the way it did. I had just about every tool you could think of to use for carpentry besides a CNC (woodshop at the high school I worked at) and it took me about a month if I remember correctly. With out the proper tools you need to take way more time than necessary to make sure things are straight and true. As soon as I got into building audio cabinets, I acquired three things.

Table Saw

Router

Orbital sander

Like was mentioned before, clamps, Clamps CLAMPS. Or brad nailer. Though I only use clamps and glue.

Prep time will save you tons of headaches in the end. when boards lay flat and flush, makes for a much nicer final product.

Just keep building and they will improve. Ask tons of questions before and during the build if you are unsure.

Good luck in your next one!

And in my case, many thereafter //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Straight edge and circular saw > table saw //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
x2 unless you have a bad *** mother****ing table saw. It will take some time, but you will get the hang of it. I still **** at cutting holes lol. I need a good router and a better circle guide. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/verymad.gif.3f39c5c2fd57527b671fad3efdfac756.gif jigsaws just dont "cut" it lol
