Shipping boxes?

For those of you who have experience with this, how do you ship boxes? It's not like you can go to the store and find a perfect fitting box to cover the enclosure in. Also, how much does it cost to ship say, a 4 cu.ft. box, halfway across the country?

The guy who shipped my Klipsch speakers sent them with 3" foam corner protectors around each corner, like furniture...those weighed somewhere around 70lbs each.

go to the ups store or whatever and ask the person how much it would cost to ship to wherever you want it.

actually there is a place by my house mailboxes etc or something like that that sells boxes big enough to carry a sub box. Problem is depending on the size fedex might not take em. a 50 lbs box is like $30 shipped give or take depending on zip. and packaging them be carefull because they will get tossed around so you want to wrap the box in garbage bags and then fill the cardboard box with the expanding foam.

Fedex has a dimensional weight limit - if the box's girth is too wide, they won't deliver it.

They also have a 100lb. absolute maximum weight for residential addresses. UPS will literally ship anything you want (anything over 6-8ft goes motor freight collect instead of the brown truck) but they charge you your left testicle for it.

4 cu ft would be like 38" x 13' x 20" so it should fit fine on fedex.

believe it or not...i screwed a circle over the sub hole and wrote the addr on it and sent it like that.....think of how they ship tires,they just tape the addr on cardboard to them and let them go. it was 2 15 boxes

but then they could damage the box... I'd like it to go through untouched.
