That's a reach for the ages.I also feel this opens the gate to legalizing *******. First if you put it in writing that you would rather be dead than live with dimensia then you will be legally killed.
But what about those that are mentally ill? Being mentally ill can be worse than physical illness or disability so why no allow those that are mentally ill and depressed to commit *******.
That's a reach for the ages.
Great, so no decisions have been made in a country that's contemplating it, and we live in a country that isn't even doing that. It's not going to happen here. There will always be individual cases which bring the issue to the forefront, but in terms of a federal law being enacted to legalize ******* in cases of dementia or what have you, it won't happen.
They don't have to, they can still kill themselves by ******* on the end of a revolver.
I disagree. I believe the day is getting closer. It won't be legalized in the next 5 years. But I believe we are getting close.
This type of thinking will lead down the path of legalization. Just open your mind why should someone that doesn't want to live depressed be forced to live with heavy depression? It's their life right? Why should someone that has said they don't want to live with dimensia have to live with it?
For the sake of argument, let's just say it is legalized, it's very possible that it may decrease ******* rates. Sociological studies show that some people commit ******* as their final act of rebellion, where's the rebellion in abiding by the law? Furthermore, massive population growths coupled with millions of pieces of shit being out there diminish the value of life, not *******.Yes but once it is legalized and made okay the value of life will be diminished.
The number of suicides per year would not fall if it were legalized. People that currently are unable to commit ******* because of the gruesomeness of it. Massive population growth is a whole separate topic. The last I heard a while back the US population growth was like that of a 3rd world country, mainly from immigration. And the Dutch government's laws on ******* aren't like "well, if you're depressed come here and we'll kill you." In order for it to be carried the patient must have made the request when they are of clear mind, with a lawyer and a witness to verify it, their disease must be incurable and consist of "unbearable" pain, and all medical options must be exhausted by at least 2 neutral parties before it can even be considered. Their government isn't making the decision for people like you think.
Nobody is unable to commit sucide, what the hell are you talking about? There are bottles of Advil and Jack Daniels around, guns are still being made, tall buildings still exist, you can still buy rat poison. The number of suicides per year would not fall if it were legalized. Talk to me when they amend the law...actually don't even bother, because my answer will be "good, more people that wanted to die are dead."That's their current law. They are looking into expanding it to the conditions I listed. The expansion was what I was talking about.
