Shallow Mount subs...

So, im completely new to the whole Audio scene.

I drive a 93 Dodge D150. Its a standard cab, full sized pickup.

Id like to put a sub in the truck, but im really, really limited on my space. I've heard from several people that a shallow mount sub would work great.

The thing is. I have maybe 6 inches to work with between the seat and cab of the truck. I have a bench seat too, so I cant just put it between the seats.

Can anyone recommend a good, higher quality sub that would work great for rock, metal and some rap? and that would fit in my limited amount of space?

The Kicker CVT is a shallow mount sub. my friend has one. It sounds... ok. i think its sounds better when its downfired

Subwoofer cone fired toward floor ussually 2-3 inches from floor.

2-3 8" subwoofers would probbaly give you enough bass.

Ed makes a 10" that would fit on a very shallow box.

RF, CLarion, and other make very thin subwoofers.

What if I aimed it at the back of the cab or at the back of the seat?

jl audio makes a very thin subwoofer for this year n memphis n soundstream n mtx make a very nice thin sub

I don't think he'd have enough room for those. Go with the JL's or something since your so limited on space. You don't have to downfire it in order for it to sound good(I don't know if that's what you were thinking or not //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif). You could just aim it toward the back of your seat, just get a couple of small tens or something.

standard cab dodge...hmmm...why not 2-12s in a sealed box built to the rear wall? More space than a downfire UNDER the seat

i was just checkin out a diamond they've come up with that has the motor above the cone, looks real shallow, probably very nice, pretty expensive.
