Need suggestions, I currently have an Alpine 9815 HU which I really love but possibly looking in to getting a double din touch with GPS with same sound quality.

Other then that I'm looking for a complete setup stressing sound quality, a fun sound signature (Headphone audiophile, similar to Denon AHD2000, UE5pro, Grado, SennHD600), with strong tight bass for mostly rock songs (screamo, hardcore, emo), trance, and some pop, smooth/forward mids, clear highs and decently loud. I'm thinking 2 10" woofers. Budget is around $1000 for everything maybe slightly more.

I have heard my friends polk audio speakers go really high but it was so crisp they were uncomfortable to listen to. so I'd rather not go with those.

I also participate in car shows so looks are definitely a plus!

My friend suggested:

2x MB Quart Premium PWH-254

Alpine MRP-M500 amp for woofer

Alpine MRP-F600 amp for speakers

Don't know what speakers to get yet, but keep in mind my fronts are 6.5" and rears 5.25"

Feel free to suggest

Any comments about my friend's suggestions?

I can go up to like $1200 -> $1400 if necessary. I haven't heard of any of these companies you guys suggested so I'm a little hesitant.

Audioque and Fi are highend, internet based companies. the owner of Fi is the guy who started up http://www.reaudio.com, which is now owned by US AMPS

Audison are very highend, they make some of the best amps period

and CDT, if you can buy them online, are probably the best bang for the buck comps you can buy

How do the Alpine stuff suggested match up to this stuff? How about Rainbow, JL Audio, infinity kappa/ref, diamond?

if you are going with an alpine amp, i suggest going with the alpine pdx line. they are small and compact and puts out their rated power and more. i have one and i couldn't be more happier. Rainbow makes good comp system. check out their slc line. as for diamond audio, i have one of their amp, d3 400.4, and they are great, put out its rated power and more and they are inexpensive.

if you are looking for a SQ sub, i suggest you look into image dynamics. they are known for their SQ.

What about enclosures, installation, wiring? Other than changing some nuts and bolts I'm really not electrically and mechanically inclined. Got any suggestions for me? Especially the installation and enclosure part, I'm located in NY.

I've also heard my friend's Acura RDX with the ELS system (10 speakers w/ 8" woofer) and it sounded really nice. I would love to have something that sounds like that or even better.

After doing some more research and deciding my budget is around 1200-1400 for everything I'm thinking these companies but not sure if I can afford them or if they're the right choice:

Rainbow SLC's components

and I can't decide between:

Fi SSD10 = $180 vs Image Dynamics IDQ10V3 $240

Audioque 1200D $250 vs Alpine PDX series (I want nice looking amps because its a show car)

Audison SRX 4 $250 vs Rainbow iPaul 4.300

more suggestions are welcome

someone on here is selling an image dynamics idq10v.3 for 150. what kind of car you have anyway?

if you are looking for sound quality, maybe you should go with an IB setup and dont forget about sound deadening your car.

as for installation, it isn't too bad. the only hard part is probably making a stealth install. other than that, it's your basic connect this wire to that input, etc, etc.

as mentioned before the wiring isue for good wiring at a good price look into http://www.knukonceptz.com/ they have great products for a cheap price. Enclosure design is up to you if you want there are people on here that will come up with some design specs for a enclosure for you or you can always talk to pete at http://www.pwkdesigns.com/ if you want a geat designed box built shipped to your door. Thats up to you will cost a bit more but will get alot more out of your sub in a efficent properly designed enclosure. Ether the FI or the ID sub will be a great drive no questions asked personaly out of the two FI for looks but ID for sq thats just my opinion though. As for components you really haven't said alot to work with people can say the type of stuff they like but to really know you should go to a couple of local places have the sales person set you up in the room bring a couple cd's you like and tell him to go away listen to the difrent component sets there make a couple writen or mental notes on the likes and dislikes of the difrent components. You might like a more relaxed tweeter and a mid that has alot of midbass and doesn't blend as well where the next guy might like sharper tweeters with a flatter midbass. Like some one said before too if you really want good sq and want a cheap way of doing so don't just slap the drivers in the doors and call it a day go threw and deaden the doors properly you will gain midbass have less road noise and have a smoother sound from your midbass/midrange. Just my 2 cents though. sound quality gets thrown around loosely if you are a spl monster or true sq guy you can have a great start with products and upgrade down the line (1.row drivers in the doors for now deaden doors when you can spend the money to 2. build a enclosure to factory spec for now and down the line get a design from Pete or have him build a enclosure.)things of that nature

Thanks for all the info so far guys.

My car is a Subaru WRX which has really crappy acoustics. We use 6.5 fronts and 5.25 rears with spacers.

What is an IB setup?

Do you guys know what stores would carry this kind of high end components for me to hear in NYC?

Also which amps should I go with?

I'd do this.... with stuff that between me and my friend are both selling brand new in box =P...

Zapco Iforce 1200

Zapco Iforce 4100

Hertz HSK165

Hertz high energy 5.25 coaxials

IDMAX 10" D4v3

I really don't know what the I-1200 is rated @ and @ what ohm load (lyttleviet owns it), but I know we have combined all of this stuff bnib for a **** good price //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif.

I/B is infinit Baffle sp* or free air it is just keeping the sound from the rear of the speaker from the sound of the front of the speaker. My personal opinion would be to scrap the rear speakers if you want to do it right get yourself a 0 guage kit so you have room to upgrade down the line all wiring and such from knuconceptz will run about 250 cheap way 2 sets of 4 guage amp kits and some battery terminals about 120-160 bucks. as for frontstage get a cdt ef component set from exige or is it exigeaudio is his name on here good guy and hes a cdt online dealer. for front stage amp the audison amp 300 , soundstream tra 800.2 for 270, or if you want to match get a sundown audio 100.4 for 260.00 referbished amp from http://www.db-r.com and get a referb sundown 1000.1 for 250 for step up to the 1500.1 for 360.00 and get a fi audio q (sq) or a audioque hcd3 12 for 230.00 wiring for 2 4 guage kits and battery terminals would cost 160 bucks and if you get a box design from pete would run 50 for that can probably find some one to build it for 50 figure 50 for suplies to build it. Would cost you around 1360.00 with the audioque or fi q would run you 1430 going with the 1500.1. down the line pick up a couple rolls of raamat for the 65 bucks they cost and would help midbass in the doors. If your not woried about the amps matching you could go with the audioque 1200.1 for 250 droping the price by about 110 bucks and loosing about 300-500 watts. Just my thoughts but that gives you something nice to play with that will have good sound and won't want you to replace anything for a bit.

and fyi a single 12 will perform almost as good as 2 10s as far as output and will be able to have the same punch saying both are in a proper enclosure. Though that is your choice I guess 2 audioque 2.5 10s would work if you wanted two 10s. For sq I would ditch the rear speakers and just use frontstage.

I have a set of cdt audio 6.5 inch components for sale in the classifieds if you are interested..... They are the CDT Audio ES-620s and are a higer end set than the set you are looking at and yes they sound amazing as anyone on here will tell you.... They are brand new in box and I want 380 shipped to pay for my new kick panels.... I paid well over 400 when bought new and they have the good crossovers.
