Settings on amp

I was just wondering where everybody has the subsonic filter and low pass filter set on their amps. Some say to just turn them down to the lowest possible level and raise them until you get distortion. For the subsonic filter, some say 25 hz and some say around what your box is tuned at (if it is ported). Just looking for some suggestions to try to fine tune my amp. Thanks guys.

That's for the gain.

Won't work with the LPF or SSF.

Subsonic filter (SSF) should be set to 1/2 octave below the tuning frequency. If your enclosure is ported, take the tuning frequency and multiply it by .75. That is the frequency where the SSF should be set. So, for a 35hz tuning, it should be set to approximately 26hz.

For the lowpass filter (LPF), you just set it to where ever sounds best. There really is no right or wrong, it is not something that can be answered over the internet, and it's not something where you can set it to the same frequency as someone else. It's all about what sounds best to you, in your stereo, in your vehicle. Should probably be somewhere between 50hz and 85hz.

Thanks. That's basically what I was looking for. I thought there was a more scientific method to setting the subsonic filter but I wasn't sure about the LPF. I figured there would be at least a range that would be helpful. My setup sounds pretty good now but hopefully I can fine tune it some more with this info.
