settings keep clearing...

i've just installed a deck in my new beater truck, new clarion that i got for cheapo...everything seems to work fine, but after i turn off the key all of the settings are cleared, stations presets etc.

im not really sure what the deal is, only thing i could come up with is that one of the wires isnt connected to a constant power source? but i checked everything with a test light, and i connected the wires based off the diagram ontop of the deck...

maybe there is something else to check? maybe it's the deck? any answers?

I had the same problem with my old eclipse deck in my car... Turned out to be the battery's voltage dipping too low to maintain the constant. New battery fixed it.

really? crappers, i just put in a brand new yellow red under the hood, as one of the few things this truck needed was a new battery...hmm...

May be different in your case but I was checking anything and everything.... Turned out to be battery while car was starting.

You sure you have the constant connected to the constant in the vehicle??

sounds like your 12v constant is not hooked up

yea ive double and tripple checked....the constant wire is hot, and i have disconnected and reconnected the deck to it multiple time, and it is very securly fastened...cant wrap my head around it...

got it working....

seems as though the constant pos line running through the main harness had some wear and it was hitting the firewall causing it to short i guess...

fixed and fixed...

it's an old truck...what do you expect right....luckily it's got a lot of room to freely work behind the dash...

now i just need a harmonic balancer, a blower motor and a new set of seats and this thing is ready for the commute...
