Setting gains

with a 0db test tone ridiculously underpowered my sub. Why does anyone recomend using that tone, just wondering?

i understand that at 0 Db it makes it near impossible for the amp to clip, but the sacrifice of half of my amps power makes it for from worth it.

if you set it properly you're not sacrificing any power at all, unless a clipped amp is something you enjoy listening to.
