Setting gains with Test Tones

Hi to all car audio experts,

I have a little problem. I'm trying to tune my JL 300/4 the manual suggests. I am suppose to have a cd with sine-wave test tones recorded at 0 db and since i'm trying to tune the channels for midrange, JL suggests 1kHz tones. I have downloaded NCH Tone generator but do not really understand how to set it up. So far I the frequency at 1000.00Hz, stereo mode, sine sweep (linear) and finally a sine duration of 700ms. Does that sound right? Need some experts advise. Thanks a many.

Duration is the play time. If you can set your gains in 7/10ths of a second, you're better than me :p

Try 10 or 20 seconds (10,000 millisec). Also, use a fixed frequency, not a sweep.

If I remember right, NCH creates a .wav file then you gotta burn that to a CD and when I did that with Nero, the resulting track was nowhere near 0 dB in level. I bought a test CD instead (Autosound 2000 disk 4).

Maylar,

THanks for you reply. i thought it would be pretty cool if i made my own. I think i will also make my own since it didn't really work for you. Thanks again
