Setting gains with DMM/ sub control HU

I just got a new amp and i need to set the gains . i know i need to set all equilizers to 0 prior to setting the gains with a digital multi meter which i did but my head unit has a control for the bass and a control for the subwoofer. Bass goes from -8 to 8 and sub goes from -15 to 15. I set the bass to zero as well as everything else. should i set the sub woofer to 15 or 0.

prog is right set the sub control all the way up. if you set the gain with the sub control all the way down or on zero then you are going to have to either drive your HU harder to reach the required voltage or your gonna have to Run your amp gain alot higher. The H/U preouts will reach there advertised voltage or close to it with the control all the way up.

really? i thought all the guides say make sure all levels are flat "0" ??

I set mine with sub level all the way up. It gives me the loudest cleanest signal I can out of it. Been doing it for years with no issues. Half way is always just enough. When I need the bass I turn er up.

the guides say make sure all "eq" settings are flat. But from experience its best to run the sub control all the way up.
All FREQUENCY adjustments flat would be another way to say it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

so, if you also have an external EQ connected to your deck, should the "bass" setting be also set to the highest setting along with the HU ?
