I've heard a few different ideas for the settings on the HU when setting gains. It's generally preferred to have your volume at 75%, no bass boost, no EQ, no crossover, etc.
However, would it make sense to have your EQ and bass boost set while setting your gains for the first time if this is how you prefer listening to your music? That way, when the signal is sent to the amplifier at 75% volume (via a 50 hz test tone for example), you will get a voltage via the DMM that accounts for this change in the signal... then can adjust the gain to the calculated number using V = sqrt( P x R ).
This makes sense to me for setting a gain to fit for your style of listening to music. Because if setting the gain with everything at default value, any change to the signal will introduce clipping. What are you guys' thoughts on this?
