Seperating Good/Bad amps?

How do i seperate good and bad amps?

Is an off brand amp capable of being just as good/better than a name brand?

I have seen some powerful off brand amps and i have been talked out of it. Why?

Are the features so different?

some shitty brands don't put out the power they claim, and the sound quality isn't very good

anything that seems too good to be true at a certain price, like a 2000w amp for $159 or something just is bs

stay away from Boss, Pyle, Volfenhag, Pyramid, and any other POS brand

For 270$ i cluld get an amp running 2k watts rms. Would it be best to test it and if its not worth it send it back?

There are a few decent amps in that price range that can produce some serious power (Hifonics bxi2008 maybe??), but chances are it will fall short of its ratings, with no promises on a long life.

Much cheaper than that and you start running into the chromed out paper weights.

Audiopipe amps that i have installed for people have exceeded their power ratings and haven't had a single failure so far. IMO they are the best bang for the buck amp on the market.

Barely does 2kw iirc at 14V. Overrated is what makes those amps seem like POS's. If they realistically rated their amplifiers I think they would get more respect, and would sell more.
