Seperate Boxes/Amps

Is there any advantage/disadvantage to having your subs in separate boxes or using separate amps. The subs are the same type and size, boxes built the same, and same type of amp.

Okay, that's what I thought. I just didn't know if maybe having the subs in the same box might yield some sonic advantage.

Also, I was thinking separate boxes might keep the bass tighter and also give it more surface area in the box... I dunno.
