I got tired of the non matching radio trim piece and decided to do something about it recently.

I started by glueing all 3 pieces together and proceeded to smooth out the transitions between the different panels to make it appear as one panel.

unfortunately I didnt snap any pics until I already had the primer on.

This is an old picture to show what I started with.

well i am at work right now and dont have access to this picture so i will update this post when i get home.

Disassembled and primed.

All one piece like it was meant to be.

Wetsanded to 320 grit

All the pieces primed for hopefully the last time

Shot with a bit of black paint.

My weapon of choice.

It is supposedly an exact match with my factory exterior paint.

The bin button got a couple more coats of paint since it will be subjected to more wear then the rest.

Now for pics of it installed.

The top of the bin ended up pretty glossy.

A couple pin holes that didnt get filled under the face plate. But they will be dealt with in due time...

Now the emergency flasher button fits in better.

I am thinking about painting the headunit where it shows through between the face plate and the trim piece.

Well that is pretty much it.

I am happy with how it came out overall but the gloss just seems to "out of place"

If I get time I will pull it all out and change it to a semi-gloss or flat black and fill in the minor imperfections/pin holes while I am at it.

Hopefully I will have time either today or this weekend or it wont happen for some time.

well the problem with that is that i dont like it being so shiny.

i am going to redo it with either a semigloss or a flat black paint.

and hopefully i like that.

and i found those crossovers i was telling you about.

get some of the clearcoat in a can, clear it. take 1000, then 1500 over the whole thing. wont take the paint off but itll take the pinholes out, buff it, polish it. we do that everytime we have dirt nibs or runs in a car after we paint it. comes out looking like a mirror
