Sell the type r to get 2 cvr's?

I have a mono pioneer amp that does 600wrms @ 2 ohms and 300@ 4 ohms I have a type r but it sounds like it's bottoming and stuff. Anyways how would 2 cvr's sound with my amp (not the loudest just looking for some good bass)

the type r should take that power with no problem. maybe its a bad sub?

a pair of cvrs should be louder than 1 type r, but you should figure out why the type r isn't working first.
