It's a good test. It's kind of missing one crucial part - Damplifabilty.

I wonder how we can even test that?

Absolutely it was a good test. When I was thinking about sound deadening I read the whole thing. As far as measuring damplifiability, what could you do? Test for vibration strength somehow?

It's possible, but would require equipment that is out of reach financially to just about everyone on this forum.
