OK guys I am getting a new battery for x-mas a Yellow top but until then im installing this cap I just got pretty much free. PLease dont tell me not to put it in, becuase I am.

I just need some clarifaction on some of this.

To charge the cap, I am getting a 1KOhm resistor to put in my fuse block, and then running the power wire to the cap and then grounding it as well.

Now, I will use my DMM to let me know when the cap reaches 12V, but do I want 12 or 14.4?

When the cap is installed do I want it like this?

+ = Battery --> Amp Fuse Block --> Cap (+ Side) --> Amp

- = Amp --> Cap (- Side) --> Ground

Or do I want the cap grounded seperatley from the amp?

When I am charging the cap, Do I want it hooked up to the amp with the truck running? Or should I NOT hook it to the amp until the charge is complete, I cannot find those answers anywhere I look.

Also after I finish charging the cap, do I have only a certain amount of time to hook up the original fuse and then put the wires back into the amp?

Please don't flame me I am just trying to figure this all out without hurting any of my equiptment.

Honestly man, if you didnt read the post why are you even responding?

I guess there is a reason you do have 1200 posts, they must be all irrelevant crap that doesent mean anything just like your above post.

doesnt mean anything? what i said meant alot. the big3 is much more efficient than your cap. i promise. you dont need a cap. just do the big 3. and from your post, which i read anyway, you seem to be having trouble hooking up a simple capacitor. the big3 is much easier to do. im not being a dick so stop getting defensive. im helping you. if i wasnt helping i would have said something ignorant, which i didnt. so, u tell me. was what i said irrelevant? no.

I completely understand the big 3 is important but honestly, I dont need to do it.

I have a 140A Altenator and the lights barely dim at all however I got this thing for free so im going to hook it up.

PLus my ground on the engine block is a **** to get to and I don't feel like doing it.

ok so basicly you dont need the cap, you just want it. now, im sorry... please tell me your not hooking it up because you think it will make your stereo look cooler? or maybe other people will think you spent a shit load of money because you have something most normal people dont know what it is? if u dont need it, why the hell are u installing it.

And not to be a dick, it didnt answer any of my questions, so to me it was irrelevant.
well your entire thread is. your asking how to install something you dont need to use. your wasting other peoples time. luckily im the only one responding, i have nothing else to do ATM so i dont mind

No, for one people dont see my setup, and they wouldnt see the cap where im putting it anyways. The lights dim a tiny bit and I know that caps do have a SQ beifit to an extent. Look I got it for 20 bucks so I don't see the problem with putting it in. You are not going to pursuade me to just leave it in my closet or burn it as you earlier mentioned. So its going in weather you give me any advice on it or not.

a capacitor has SQ abilitys? FOR REALZ?!?! dude.. come the **** on. a cap regulates voltage. thats pretty much saying a good battery will make your stereo sound better. gtfo

use a test light in between the cap and the power line, when it gets dim your good to go, i've also hooked them up without charging them, hook it then hook up the amp, worst that ever happened when i didn't charge it was a small spark... the big three really is the way to go though... disconnect battery, ground cap separate, cap will stay charged unless something is draining it.

From what I read the cap discharges faster than an alt can keep up meaning the amp gets a flatter voltage responce when it hits a more powerful note. Honestly I dont give a shit what this ****ing thing does, all I know is im installing it. What is the ****ing problem with that?

The way the jeep altenators are the ground is secured in this plastic boot on the back of the altenator, and to get a 0 gauge terminal in there is basically impossible. I dont feel like ****ing with that. Its so much easier to just pop in a better battery and a cap. I honestly dont need either one but the battery will be better off for the jeeps sake, and the cap just beacuse I have one laying around I might as well use it.
