Second type-r?? (running mrp-850)

Hey guys im really new to car audio so im not sure if this is good or not... Right now im running a 12" type R 4 Ohm on a Alpine mrp-850... I feel as though the amp should be able to power more than just one type r so im looking to get a second type R.

Will I be able to wire these if they are both 4 ohms and if so is this a good or bad idea?

Thanks in advanced

Its a SWR-1242D type r...
That means that your type r is DUAL 4 ohm..... Wich mean it is wired at 2 or 8 ohms, most likley 2. If your amp is one ohm stable then yes you could add another SWR-1242D and wire them both in parallel to get 1 ohm.

This could be louder or it may not.. I looked online but I cant find any statistics on that amp. Do you know what rms it is rated at at each ohm?
